The raw material for this brick was harvested in Anhua, Hunan, to a first-grade standard (one bud and two leaves), then went through shaqing (kill-green) and initial drying. It was then transported to Jingyang, where it was steamed, wodui (pile-fermented) for two days, inoculated with the brand's own golden flower culture, and hand-pressed into bricks before 45 days of aging in dedicated chambers. Processing white tea this way is genuinely rare. But the real draw is how it balances the herbal sweetness of a well-aged white tea with the sweetness and shroominess of jinhua (golden flowers). The golden flowers are present but not too loud, just like in our Golden Loaf, the classic Dark Tea Fu brick from the same producer. It was then transported to Jingyang, where it was inoculated with the brand's own golden flower culture, and hand-pressed into bricks before 45 days of aging in dedicated chambers. Our producer told us he adapted a recipe from the Bulang people of a neighbouring village, who traditionally pound sour tea with salt, garlic and chilli and serve it with rice. Yes, like a condiment, a bit like sauerkraut. Seems like he twisted the recipe into something you drink. The process follows standard raw puerh steps: withering, rolling… but instead of being sun-dried at the end, the leaves are packed into bamboo tubes or clay jars, nothing added, and left to ferment anaerobically for one season to a year. They are then taken out and sun-dried.

</details>
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1001/7734/6885/files/DSC04605_02797854-d684-4b49-ab92-7cbe667ac51e.jpg?v=1780480398
2025-jingmai-shaihong
Black Peanuts

<details class="tea-details" open="">

DETAILED TASTING NOTES

Warm Leaf Smell: not strong smell, woody spices, cassia and nutmeg
Wet Leaf Smell: cassia, brazil nuts
Texture Feel: medium, a bit mineral-chalky, coating
Taste: goji berries, dark chocolate, eucalyptus, hazelnuts
Finish Feel: drier towards back of the mouth, juicy front of the mouth, active, medium length
Empty Cup Smell: fragrant wood
Aftertaste: coffee candy
Body Feel: settled, warm, focused

</details>
<details class="tea-details">

KEY INFO

Category: Red (Black) Tea
Native Name: 景迈晒红
Harvest: 2025 mixed Spring/Autumn
Origin: Nuogang forest, Jingai mountain, Lancang Lahu autonomous county, PuErh City (Simao), Yunnan province, China
Cultivar: Dayezhong (Big leaf)
Altitude: 1500–1650m

</details>
<details class="tea-details">

EFIM'S COMMENTS

Black Peanuts is an easy drinker and a bargain for what it is.
