He welcomed us into his home in Baduo village with remarkable generosity and charisma, never ceasing to surprise us. It was there we discovered he also maintains an inherited plantation and produces a small amount of tea each spring. Full of spice, and the finish is out of the ordinary — active, tingling in the throat, freshness and warmth at the same time. These are not monocultures, but true living ecosystems, with about 1,500 species of native seed plants and 253 species of terrestrial vertebrates, within which tea trees have grown for centuries. We visited producers in many villages on the mountain and sourced two who stood out, both in Nuogang, the best-preserved Dai ethical village in JingMai.

This tea comes from the first producer we found there: a charismatic young man who prepares tea as an art and whose trees are, for the youngest, centenarian, for the oldest, multi-centenarian, so we call him by what he is: old trees and ancient trees (Da/GuShu).
